What is EduLead?

CollaboratingEduLead offers a continuum of professional development opportunities, leadership training, and support to school divisions throughout the United States.  The organization also creates impact and evaluative studies to increase the excellence of school leader. EduLead tracks legislative actions related to education; pulls news and information from a variety of journals, media outlets, and other publications; shares and highlights educational leadership events and conferences from around the nation; and provides training and research to clients.

EduLead was created as a partnership between the University of Richmond's Center for Leadership in Education and Virginia Commonwealth University's Center for School Improvement. It capitalizes on the resources of these two centers by providing training to help school leaders hone their leadership abilities, share their visions, and mentor other leaders in the field.

Research shows that leadership is second only to teaching among the school-related factors impacting student learning.  Leadership can further impact those schools that have students with at-risk students.  Many metropolitan areas in the United States have schools facing growing risk factors such as overcrowding, NCLB sanctions, low income, and high dropout rates.  It is imperative that these schools have strong leadership.  EduLead hopes to work at alleviating risks, while improving student performance and educational quality.
